What would happen in your life right now if you simply REFUSED TO WORRY?!…
When you are care-FULL and worried about ANYTHING, the first thing you need to do is repent.
You heard me. You who are overcome with anxious and worried thoughts on a consistent and persistent level need to stop and repent FIRST.
Fear and anxiety are there in your face all the time because you are continually living a life that is out of step with your God.
If you are always feeling like a pack mule for the world, it is because you are allowing yourself to continually carry loads that you were never designed and equipped for…
You are making it hard on yourself when you persist in “doing it by yourself.”
Philippians 4:6 (AMP)
6 Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.
In case you have not been TOLD TO DO SOMETHING in a while, I would like to point out that verse 6 is a COMMAND, not a suggestion.
Worry and anxiety is not just a hindrance, but a sin and disobedient act which needs to be repented of and changed.
Repent means: To turn a full 180 degrees into the opposite direction. You came to Jesus that way and you are to continue to live and walk that way.
I have found, through repetitive and painful personal experience that 99% of the things that had occupied my mind and thoughts like a virus - NEVER EVER HAPPENED, nor were they going to happen.
- Worry and anxiety - IS SIN in a believer’s life that needs to be clearly recognized and repented of.
Sin and disobedience require your assent and agreement. You can and must choose to stop in your tracks right now and “break agreement” with all fear, worry and anxiety.
In fact, before we go any further, please pray this aloud with me RIGHT NOW:
PRAYER:
My Father God, forgive me for being more afraid of this world and its worries than my honor and fear of you.
I right now, refuse to be worried or anxious ABOUT ANYTHING!
Help me my Lord, to learn to walk in your peace and purpose so that I can live in that tranquil state of the knowledge that you are pleased with me because I chose you and not because of anything I did on my own.
Holy Spirit, I lean on you right now to lead and guide me into all your truth, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
If that is a scary thought to you right now, then I need to tell you that you are in bondage to sin and an irrational fear of your future.
You are actually in bondage to something that Jesus died for.
That prayer you just said with me is something that you should revisit and confirm in your heart and mind regularly as a thoughtful and deliberate lifestyle.
The KJV says “be careful for nothing.” The root word in this verse that addresses this anxiety, fear and over-care is this:
g3309. μεριμνάω merimnaō; from 3308; to be anxious about: — (be, have) care(-ful), take thought.
AV (19) - take thought 11, care 5, be careful 2, have care 1;
to be anxious, to be troubled with cares, to care for, look out for (a thing).
If you are looking for real freedom from the torment of an image or movie that is looping over and over in your mind, hang onto these scriptures…
Let’s FLIP THE SCRIPT on your old way of thinking right now…
When you are NOT WORRIED, ANXIOUS OR TROUBLED – this is the result that is guaranteed from the hear of your God…
Philippians 4:7 (AMP)
7 And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
It says here that God’s Peace will be the guard over your mind.
You are to deliberately take His Words and “say them out loud over yourself.”
You are supposed to take His Word and all His Promises as the delivering, medicating, and healing reality in your life instead of submitting to what the world and your circumstances are screaming at you.
This is NOT “mind over matter ”like the mind science cults and religions teach.
This is - embracing the same “saving grace” that saved you in the beginning and is transitioning you into the enduring and empowering grace you have the right and privilege to walk in as a son in His House who is not just tolerated, but fully accepted by a loving Father.
This subject is near and relevant to me as it is something that I always must be on the lookout for.
My mother was a world-champion worrier, and I haven’t been much better than her at times.
I need this message as much or more as any of you watching and hearing right now.
I have too often found myself up in the middle of the night for a trip to the bathroom only to be found fighting off the THING bombarding my mind that will not allow me to get back to sleep.
When this happens, the best remedy and surefire cure is to open my Bible-App on my phone or my Bible and read His Word, or to pick a book of the Bible and have Alexander Scourby read aloud to me as I drift off back to sleep.
Your anxious and worried thoughts must be treated like invaders and conquerors trying to assault the walls and gates of your inner man.
The battle is real, and you must realize that your entire person will end up following the direction of your most dominant thoughts.
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (NKJV)
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
- You must MAKE your mind and body obey God. The carnal nature of your old, inner nature that is in any way existing outside of Christ and His Word is always rebellious.
- It is no different than a young child that throws a tantrum because they do not want to eat their vegetables. If a child is not compelled to eat their vegetables, then they will not develop a taste for what real food tastes, feels and smells like.
- You must bring to discipline to your entire nature, spirit, soul and body in order to train yourself to practice new habits as a matter of course and not because someone is “making you do it.”
- We are required of God, in our daily Christian Walk to bring to bear the authority of God, by His Word and Spirit over our personal wants and needs. We are promised throughout the Bible, that God will always have our back as long as our eyes are firmly and unwaveringly fixed upon Jesus and the Word.
What are you – LOOKING AT…?
Matthew 6:22-34 (NKJV)
22 “The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
Let’s get very practical. Looking unto Jesus is hard enough on its own in this broken and fallen world system we find ourselves sojourning in. Your eyes should be on your Lord and Redeemer at all times because His Kingdom is eternal and His Words will NEVER pass away.
This corrupt world’s systems are as temporary as your own life. Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Go to Him first and take shelter IN HIM.
We make it so much harder on ourselves when we allow ourselves to be pushed and pulled into places that our mind and body cannot possibly defend against.
The wild-wild-west of internet, media and social media is inescapable in its reach and dominion over every person on earth today.
We can, however, choose what we go out of our way to see and hear.
You make it hard on yourself when you watch TV or Movies that contain un-Godly elements that you would find highly objectionable if they were in your home, in real life.
Look at that verse in Matthew 6:22 in The Passion Translation…
Matthew 6:22 (TPT) “The eyes of your spirit allow revelation-light to enter into your being. If your heart is unclouded, the light floods in!
Turn that verse around.
“If you allow your heart to be clouded, the light cannot easily move or reflect into your inner man.”
Victory will begin in your life when you get deliberate about what you see and hear and especially ask yourself: “what will I tolerate in my life that is SIN by any meaningful measurement.
Do you gloss over or make excuse for those who take our Lord’s name and spew profanity in literally every popular show on todays media market?
Better yet, ask yourself, “What would I change in my life and home if Jesus was coming to my house, staying for supper and staying overnight?!”
I have news for you, Jesus has already invited Himself into your home when you accepted and received Him. Are you going to continue to keep Him locked up in that spare bedroom downstairs and lock the door?
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NKJV)
19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
1. You do not belong to yourself.
2. Your body belongs to God.
3. Your spirit belongs to God.
… Therefore, glorify your God in your body and spirit. You are a caretaker of that which HE has claimed as His own. Now, your life’s work is to bring your thoughts and entire mind into subjection to what He COMMANDS, not what you WANT!
Your natural eyes and ears are without argument, the most important gates to your life. The spirit, soul and body of every man must be as diligently guarded as if a natural enemy army were setting up ramparts and siege mounds against the very walled city you live in.
YOU are the gatekeeper of your life.
Practically speaking, if you insist on watching secular TV and movies, there is a site and app called IMDB which actually lists in quality and quantity the severity of every important aspect of that TV show or movie.
Look up any TV or movie media and it will list as severe, moderate or none everything from violence to language to sexual content and nudity.
My painful experience is that for 95% of the media content out there, a diligent Christian should not be seeing or hearing any of it.
It is not a one-time, simple task to protect all that your God has entrusted to you.
Your God asks that you be faithful and separated unto Him in all things and at all times so that your reward will be great, and you will bring glory to Him in all that you think, say and do.
PRAYER:
Father, forgive me for polluting the temple of God, which I am and WHOSE I AM.
I will guard my heart, mind, and body diligently, deliberately, and obediently all the days I will serve you.
I will live every moment of every day as if YOU are watching and hearing everything, because you are.
Thank you Father - for Jesus. By faith I am pleasing to you because I put my faith in what Jesus already died for – for me, all in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
